Privacy Policy

Apatani Biisi Kheta is a hymnal and devotional app published by the Apatani Baptist Association, Ziro (Lower Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh, India) and developed by Thatea Fanai under the BABFO ministry ("we", "us", "our"). It is available as a mobile app and as a web app.

We respect your privacy. By using the app you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

1 Information we collect

a. Stored only on your device

• Your preferences — theme (light/dark), font, font size, and the "keep screen awake" setting.
• Favorite songs — the list of song numbers you mark as favorites.
• Read status — which items in the Scripture archive you have already opened, so unread ones can be highlighted.

This is saved locally on your device (via shared_preferences, and in your browser's local storage on the web version). We do not receive, access, or transmit it. You can erase it any time by clearing the app's data in your device or browser settings.

b. Processed only when you choose to act

• Feedback via WhatsApp — if you tap the feedback option, the app opens WhatsApp so you can message a number managed by the Apatani Baptist Association. Your use of WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's Privacy Policy.
• Sharing — if you share a song or scripture, your device's native share sheet opens and passes the content to whichever app you choose; that app's own privacy policy then applies.

We do not collect or store anything from these interactions unless you voluntarily send us a message.

c. Technical and usage information (via Google Firebase)

To keep the app reliable and to deliver content, we use Google Firebase services, which process limited technical data:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — a push-notification token for your app installation, so we can send "Scripture of the Day" and important announcements. Installations subscribe to a shared topic (all_users_tkbk); we send to that topic rather than to individuals.
• Firebase Analytics — aggregated, pseudonymous usage data such as screens viewed, session length, feature use, device model, and approximate (non-precise) location.
• Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports, device state, and diagnostic logs to help us find and fix problems.

d. Content delivered to you

• Cloud Firestore — the app reads the shared "Scripture" archive (title, reference, verse text, and dates) from our database. This content is the same for everyone and is read-only for you; the app does not write any personal data about you to it.
• Firebase Storage — some scriptures include an image, delivered from our storage and shown in the notification and in the app.

Information handled by these Google services is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase terms.

2 How we use information

• Preferences, favorites, and read status are used only to run the app on your device.
• Push tokens are used only to deliver notifications you can turn off at any time.
• Analytics is used, in aggregate, to understand which features are helpful and to improve the app.
• Crashlytics is used only to diagnose and fix stability problems.
• We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3 Push notifications

We use notifications to share the daily Scripture and occasional announcements. A notification may contain a title, a verse or message, and an optional image. Tapping it opens the item inside the app. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device (or browser) notification settings; the app continues to work without them, and past scriptures remain available in the in-app Scripture archive.

4 Data storage and security

• Your preferences, favorites, and read status stay on your device and are not sent to us.
• Technical data handled by Firebase is stored and protected by Google under their security practices.
• Because the app requires no account, there are no passwords or personal profiles for us to hold.

5 How information is shared

• We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
• Technical data is processed by Google (Firebase) as our service provider, as described in their policies.
• When you choose to use WhatsApp or the share feature, the content goes to that third-party app under its own policy.
• We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6 Your choices and controls

• Clear locally stored data any time via your device or browser settings.
• Turn notifications on or off in your device/browser notification settings.
• Limit analytics/advertising identifiers through your device's privacy settings.

7 Children's privacy

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

8 Data retention

Locally stored data remains until you delete it. Technical data processed by Firebase is retained according to Google's retention periods for those services. We do not maintain separate personal records about individual users.

9 International data transfers

Google/Firebase may process technical data on servers located outside your country. By using the app you understand that such data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries with different data-protection laws, subject to Google's safeguards.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app or the law. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Please review it periodically.
