BCM Diary · Your Data
Data Deletion Policy
Effective 30 October 2026 · Last updated 30 October 2026
You are in control. BCM Diary has no account and no server that keeps your diary, so we hold none of your data. Deleting it is in your own hands: it takes effect at once, and you don't need to ask us.
This page explains where BCM Diary keeps your information and how to delete some or all of it. For what the app stores and why, see the BCM Diary Privacy Policy.
1 Where your data is
- On your phone: your diary, notes, events, tags, My Details and settings, in an encrypted database.
- In the web app: the same, in your browser's storage on the computer you use.
- In your Google Drive, only if you turned on Drive backup: one backup in a hidden folder that only BCM Diary can open.
- Backup files you saved yourself, wherever you chose to save them.
We, the developer, do not have a copy of any of it.
2 Delete single items
- A diary entry, note or event: open it and choose Delete.
- A detail in My Details: open My Details, clear the field and save.
If Drive backup is on, the deletion is carried into your next backup.
3 Delete everything on your phone
Either of these removes all BCM Diary data from the phone, including the encryption key, so it cannot be recovered:
- Uninstall BCM Diary, or
- Go to your phone's Settings › Apps › BCM Diary › Storage › Clear storage (the exact words vary by phone).
If you have a Drive backup, BCM Diary will offer to restore it whenever the same Google account is connected again, even on a new phone. To remove your data completely, also delete the Drive backup (section 5).
4 Delete everything in the web app
In your browser, delete the site data for bcm-diary.web.app. In Chrome: open the web app, click the icon to the left of the address, choose Site settings, then Delete data. Other browsers have a similar option under privacy or site settings.
5 Delete your Google Drive backup
- In BCM Diary, open More › Backup & Restore and tap Disconnect, so no new backup is made.
- On a computer, open drive.google.com and click Settings (the gear) › Settings › Manage apps.
- Find BCM Diary, click Options › Delete hidden app data, and confirm.
To also remove BCM Diary's permission to your Google account, open myaccount.google.com/connections, choose BCM Diary and remove its access.
6 Backup files you saved
Backup files made with Save file (named like BCM Diary backup 2026-10-30.json) are ordinary files. Delete them in your phone's Files app, your computer or wherever you put them.
7 What we keep
- Your diary and personal details: nothing. We never receive them, so there is nothing for us to delete and no account to close.
- Content downloads: the service that hosts BCM content updates (Google Firebase) may keep basic technical request records, such as IP address and time, for a limited period under Google's own policies. We do not use them to identify anyone.
- Emails you send us: if you write to us, we keep the email only as long as needed to help you, and delete it on request.
8 Directory listings
The directory in BCM Diary shows BCM leaders, pastors and missionaries as published by BCM. If you are listed and want your entry corrected or removed, email us. We will change it in the next content update, which reaches phones without an app update.
